In 2010, Tahn Chawkhun Phra Preechayanavidesa (or Phra Rajaseelap̣horn at present) sent a group of Dhamma Ambassador Monks to practice Buddhism in Tasmania. In 2014 the Sanggha received support from Jim Parkin and his wife Ankna (Pahn) who bought land and accommodation for the monks in a location which was considered to be convenient and suitable for a temple and a venue for organizing religious activities. They provided advanced funding in order to allow the temple enough time to raise the funds and repay later. The property is situated at No. 14 Conrad Dr, Otago, which has an area of approximately 2.2 acres. Buddhist monks to commenced religious practice at this address on December 5, 2014.
After that, within a period of one and a half years, the temple bought the property and soon after it was approved by the Sanggha Council of Australia and New Zealand to be an official temple. In 2016, the Temple receiving the royal decree with the name “Wat Sanggharangsee” from the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana. Now the temple has been accepted by the Clarence Council as a religious institution. Wat Sanggharangsee is the first official Theravada temple in the state of Tasmania.
ในปี 2010 ท่านเจ้าคุณปรีชาญาณวิเทศ (หรือพระราชสีลาภรณ์ในปัจจุบัน) ได้ส่งคณะธรรมทูตมาประจำที่รัฐทัสเมเนียเพื่อเผยแผ่และทะนุบำรุงศาสนาให้เจริญรุ่งเรือง ซึ่งในตอนนั้นวัดยังเป็นแค่สำนักสงฆ์และยังไม่มีสถานที่เป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ของวัด ต่อมาในปี 2014 มีโยมผู้มีจิตเลื่อมใสศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนาได้ซื้อที่ดินพร้อมสิ่งปลูกสร้างถวายให้ก่อน เลขที่ 14 Conrad Dr, Otago ซึ่งมีเนื้อที่ 2.2 acres เพื่อทำเป็นวัดโดยมีเงื่อนไขการผ่อนคืนภายในเวลา 4 ปี ด้วยแรงศรัทธาของพุทธศาสนิกชนและการขับเคลื่อน ผลักดันของพระสงฆ์ที่อาศัยอยู่ขณะนั้น ทางวัดได้ผ่อนชำระเงินคืนได้ภายใน 2 ปี หลังจากที่ได้ชำระเงินเสร็จสิ้นแล้ว สำนักสงฆ์ในขณะนั้นได้รับอนุมัติให้เป็นวัดจากมติของคณะสงฆ์ในปี 2016 โดยได้รับพระราชทานชื่อวัดจากสมเด็จพระสังฆราชองค์ปัจจุบัน ให้ชื่อว่าวัดสังฆรังษี ซึ่งเป็นวัดไทยวัดแรกของรัฐทัสเมเนีย
